The SPHS Internship Program gives juniors and seniors the opportunity to explore careers and earn high school credit at the same time. Through exclusive partnerships with local business, students will be given access to internships in a variety of fields. Offering real-world experience, including a competitive job placement process, the internships offer opportunities to practice critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills. All in all, the program is designed to further a student's professional development and understanding of different careers.
How Does the Internship Program Work? It's as Easy as 1-2-3.
1. Students complete two pre-requisite workshops. Then they are eligible to apply to be part of the internship program and will sign up for the class. 2. Employers interview and select interns who are then required to complete 60 hours of work during the semester. 3. At the end of the program, both the student and employer complete evaluations. If all the course requirements have been met, then the student will receive five units of practical arts elective credit.
